The BGM Hybrid system for Diesel boats provides 2 modes of operation:
A boat operator can switch between the 2 modes of operation on-demand and at any speed. The engine can also start ignition on any of the 2 modes of operation.
Hybrid Mix of Natural Gas + Diesel Mode: This mode allows an engine to replace up to 70% of Diesel with the much cheaper and cleaner Natural Gas, but it still requires a small portion of Diesel to be used (30%). This hybrid mix allows for the BGM system to become an add-on that adds capabilities to engines without modifying their internal parts. Compression and power are identical to running on 100% Diesel. The engine internals last much longer and regular maintenance can be extended, resulting in a reduction of downtime and expense. In addition to the BGM Hybrid Engine Module, several other modules are added to the boat to allow for Natural Gas to be used and stored in the form of CNG (Compressed) or LNG (Liquified Nat Gas).
Diesel Mode: This mode is the original capability of the engine that is retained in its unaltered state. This allows the flexibility to operate the boat in areas where Natural Gas is not yet available or as a backup source of fuel that extends range when needed.
Compatibility: All brands of 2-stroke and 4-stroke diesels and all new electronic models and older mechanically controlled models.
Manufacturing Process: Our on-board Nat Gas systems are engine-model and engine-year specific, so when we make a hybrid system add-on, we build it on top of that model and perform computer controlled tuning and dynamometer testing on the same model and same year engine before sending the system to be installed on the customer’s engines, that’s how we guarantee 100% compatibility and power retention on hybrid mode.
